Tori Amos's hits include Crucify, Cornflake Girl and Professional Widow A musical written by singer Tori Amos will be one of the National theatre's forthcoming productions.
The title of the show, set to open in the Lyttelton auditorium in April 2012, has yet to be announced.
Comedian James Corden will star in a production of One Man, Two Guvnors, to will be directed by the National's Nicholas Hytner.
Richard Bean's play will open in May in the Lyttelton ahead of a UK tour later in the year.
Also that month, the National's Olivier auditorium will play host to a new production of The Cherry Orchard.
Zoe Wanamaker and Conleth Hill will play lead roles in Howard Davies' revival of the Anton Chekhov classic.
Upstairs Downstairs actress Keeley Hawes will star in Clifford Odets' Rocket to the Moon this March, while the Royal Court's artistic director Dominic Cooke will make his National debut with Shakespeare's The Comedy Of Errors in November.
Trainspotting screenwriter John Hodge has written a play that Hytner will direct in October, shortly after Mike Leigh unveils the improvised play he is set to devise with actress Lesley Manville.
Other highlights include Jonathan Kent's staging of Ibsen's Emperor and Galilean and Katie Mitchell's production of Thomas Heywood's A Woman Killed with Kindness.
Next month Danny Boyle will unveil his production of Frankenstein, in which Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller will alternate in the roles of the title role and the Monster.
